According to data released by GACC, the overall import volume of chicken amounts to 106800 MT in May 2022, decreased by 10.18% compared to April, increased by 4.93% year on year.
Brazil ranks first as China’s biggest exporter of chicken, claiming 51000 MT in volume, which accounts for 47.79% of China’s total import volume. This ratio obtained a 4.69% increase compared to April. The US ranks the second with the volume of 32100 MT, decreased by 3.91% compared to April affected by Avian Influenza. Russia ranks as the third biggest exporter which exported merely 6800 MT, dropping drastically by 61.77%.
In terms of product categories, frozen chicken paw still remains as the major kind of all chicken products, with the total volume of 49300 MT, accounting for 46.15% of all imported chicken categories. But there is a 15% drop in chicken paw import volume, which leads to a continuing high price in China’s domestic market this year.
